The crop flow at the cutterbar can also be affected by the angle of the platform guard.
The steepest guard angle is used for short crop stubble and down or lodged crop.
The flat guard angle is used in rocky conditions to reduce guard and knife damage. (See Adjusting Cut

Height in this section.) Always check platform float after adjusting guard angle. (See Adjusting Platform Float in this section.)
When gauge shoes are set for lowest cut position, use the flat guard angle. Using the steep guard angle with gauge shoes set for lowest cut position, will cause plugging and extreme knife and guard wear.
