Prestarting Checks

causym CAUTION: To avoid bodily injury, disengage PTO and shut off tractor engine before doing prestarting checks.

Inspect and service machine before starting work each day.

1. Check hydraulic oil level.

2. Check for hydraulic oil leakage.

3. Check chain (A), reel drive belt (B), and cutterbar knife drive belt (C) for correct tension. (See Service section for Adjusting Reel Drive Chain, Adjusting Reel Drive Belt and Adjusting Cutterbar Knife Drive Belt.)

4. Check knife drive case, arm, and pin (D) for looseness.

5. Inspect cutterbar for damaged knife sections and alignment of guards.

6. Check for loose bolts or missing cotter pins.

7. Check tire inflation.

8. Check operation of platform hydraulic controls.
