Breaking in Mower-Conditioner

CAUTION: To avoid bodily injury, disengage PTO and shut off tractor engine before inspecting machine.

1. Run empty machine at slow idle speed for 15 minutes. Disengage PTO, shut off tractor engine, and inspect for wear or malfunctions.

2. Run machine at rated PTO speed (540 rpm) for 15 minutes. Disengage PTO, shut off tractor engine, and inspect machine.

3. On a new machine, avoid heavy loading during the initial two hours of field operation. Run at rated PTO speed at least one gear slower than the machine's normal capacity.

4. Check knife drive case mounting bolts and knife drive arm nut for tightness.

5. Check knife hold-down clearances. (See Adjusting Regular or Non-Clog Knife Hold-Downs in Service section.)
