Adjusting Regular Knife Hold-Downs

IMPORTANT: Overtightening the hold-downs will cause rapid wear on hold-downs and knife sections. Wear is increased if operating in sandy or muddy conditions.

NOTE: Hold-downs are cast iron. Knife hold-down (A) keeps knife section (B) from lifting off guard (C), allowing the knife to slide without binding.

1. Position knife with one half of knife section under hold-down and one half of knife section on guard ledger surface.

2. Insert a feeler gauge between hold-down and knife section. Adjust cap screw to obtain 0.13-0.25 mm (0.005-0.010 in.) gap between hold-down and knife section.

3. Oscillate knife by hand. Knife must be free to move.

4. Operate machine for 3 minutes to make sure knife sections do not bind.
