IMPORTANT: Assemble cutterbar as illustrated or machine damage may result.

NOTE: Cutterbar is equipped with cast iron hold-downs.

1. Remove cutterbar knife. (See Removing Knife in this section.)

IMPORTANT: To ensure good guard alignment, guards must be pushed and held against cutterbar while tightening lock nuts (D). If guards are not aligned, cutterbar will not wear evenly.

Tighten all lock nuts (D) to 45-50 Nm (33-37 lb-ft).

NOTE: Guards in Locations 1 and 2 are WITH wear bars. Refer to cutterbar illustration for correct placement of hold-downs.

Before installing hold-downs, make sure end of cap screws (E and I) extend approximately three to four threads past bottom of hold-down.

2. Install cap screw (E) in hold-down (C). Install cap screws (I) in hold-downs (H).

3. Location 1 - Install special guard (WITH WEAR BAR) (B). Fasten with two 7/16 x 1-3/4 in. round-head bolts (A) and lock nuts (D).

4. Location 2 - Install non-clog guards (WITH WEAR BARS) (G) and hold-downs (H). Fasten with 7/16 x 2-3/4 in. round-head bolts (F) and nuts (D).

NOTE: Guards in Locations 3 and 4 are WITHOUT wear bars. Refer to cutterbar illustration for correct placement of hold-downs.

5. Location 3 - Install two non-clog guards (WITHOUT WEAR BARS) (J) and hold-downs (H). Fasten with two 7/16 x 2-3/4 in. round-head bolts (F) and nuts (D).

6. Location 4 - Install special guard (WITHOUT WEAR BAR) (L). Fasten with two 7/16 x 1-1/2 in. round-head bolts (K) and lock nuts (D).

7. Install knife. (See Installing Knife in this section.)

8. Position knife with knife section centered on guard ledger surface.

9. Insert a feeler gauge between hold-down and knife section. Adjust cap screw (E and I) to obtain 0.13-0.25 mm. (0.005-0.010 in.) gap between hold-down and knife section.

10. Maximum gap between guard cutting surface and section is 0.51 mm (0.020 in.).

11. Operate machine for 3 minutes. Make sure knife sections are not heating or binding. Correct any problems.
