Determining Need for Turn Limiters

Turn limiters may be required to prevent driveline damage if the tractor hitch point is beyond the rear drive tires.

To determine if turn limiters are required:

1. Lay a straight edge between rear tires at the outermost diameter.

2. From the straight edge, plumb a line to tractor drawbar. Measure distance (A) from the line to the center of hitch pin hole.

If dimension (A) is less than 40 mm (1.5 in.), turn limiters are NOT required. (Applies to most John Deere tractors manufactured before 1993.)

If dimension (A) is 40 to 155 mm (1.5 to 6.1 in.), narrow turn limiters are required. (Applies to most John Deere 6000 and 7000 Series tractors and some competitive tractors.)

If dimension (A) is 155 to 300 mm (6.1 to 11.8 in.), wide turn limiters are required.
