Adjusting Gate Latch Stop

1. Remove any material buildup between gate and frame.

2. Close and latch gate. Push gate latch (A) forward firmly by hand to remove slack. If distance between gate latch stop (B) and stop pad (C) is not within specifications, shim as necessary following this procedure.

Specification

Gate Latch Stop-to-Stop Pad -Distance 1-3 mm (1/32-1/8 in.)

3. Loosen bolt (D). Shims are slotted so bolt does not have to be removed.

4. If dimension is greater than specified, transfer shims from storage position to shimming position until specification is obtained.

5. If dimension is less than specified, transfer shims from shimming position to storage position until specification is obtained.

NOTE: If correct adjustment cannot be obtained, lower gate with tractor engine shut off. If there is a gap on one side when the other side is contacting, see your John Deere dealer for the correct procedure to straighten gate.

6. Center shims and stop pad and tighten bolt (D). If necessary, repeat procedure on opposite side.
