A-Bale Shape Indicators

B-Near Full Indicator Alarm

IMPORTANT: Make sure tractor and baler have been properly prepared for field operations. Refer to Preparing the Tractor, Preparing the Baler, Preparing Baler for Net Wrap, and Attaching and Detaching sections for related directions.

Before operating baler, make sure gate lock lever is in the UNLOCKED position. Failure to unlock valve will damage baler. (See CHECKING GATE LOCK VALVE INTERLOCK LEVER ADJUSTMENT in this section.)

NOTE: BALE WATCH™ monitor has no ON/OFF switch. Power is supplied to monitor through tractor convenience outlet. Both indicator gauges are illuminated for night operation.

1. Start tractor engine.

2. Make sure gate is closed.

3. Engage PTO and raise throttle setting to PTO rated speed.

4. Drive forward and start into windrow.

5. Observe bale shape indicators (A). Try to keep both needles at the top of the operating zone (near "dots") and balanced side-to-side. Refer to INTERPRETING BALE SHAPE INDICATORS for further information and corrective action.

6. At preset distance under full bale diameter setting, NEAR FULL indicator sounds alarm (buzzer) (B). Alarm will continue to sound until bale reaches full size. Continue to bale through alarm, while preparing to start wrap cycle. When bale reaches full size, alarm stops, indicating that bale is ready to wrap.

IMPORTANT: Should baling continue after alarm stops, alarm will sound again to warn of an oversize bale. Continuing to operate with oversize bale in chamber can cause severe gate damage and roller breakage.

7. When alarm stops, start to wrap bale:

TWINE WRAP ; While continuing forward travel and baling, initiate twine wrapping cycle observing "spinners". Twine has started on the bale when spinners start rotating. With wrapping started, stop forward travel, but maintain engine speed at PTO rated setting during wrap cycle. For wrapping operation, refer to OPERATING WRAP CONTROL-ELECTRIC ACTUATED TWINE ARMS or HYDRAULIC ACTUATED TWINE ARMS in this section.

NET WRAP ; Stop forward travel and baling before initiating net wrap cycle. Maintain engine speed at PTO rated setting. For wrapping operation, refer to OPERATING NET WRAP CONTROL in this section.

8. Confirm that wrap has cut off (twine or net).

9. Eject Bale (For best results, leave PTO engaged while opening and closing gate):

  • Without bale ramp; Back up 2-3 m (8-10 ft) and open gate. Pull forward to clear bale with gate. Close gate and continue normal operations with next bale.
  • With bale ramp; Remain stopped and open gate to eject bale. When bale is clear of gate, close gate and continue baling.
