Transporting Windrower
CAUTION:
Check local government regulations regarding driving or towing equipment on public roads.
Use headlights, flashing warning lights, and turn signals day and night. Follow local regulations for equipment lighting and marking. Keep lighting and marking visible and in good working order. Replace or repair lighting and marking that has been damaged or lost. An implement safety lighting kit is available from your John Deere dealer.
Road and warning lights will come on automatically when the machine is operating in the road range. Use the third position of the light switch if machine is being transported in the field range, or after dark.
Prevent collisions between other road users, slow moving tractors with attachments or towed equipment, and self-propelled machines on public roads. Frequently check for traffic from the rear, especially in turns, and use hand signals or turn signal lights.
IMPORTANT:
If transporting the windrower on a truck, cover the exhaust to prevent the turbocharger from rotating.
Whenever possible, the windrower should be moved on roadways under its own power. If towing the windrower, the front drive wheels MUST be disengaged. (See TOWING WINDROWER in this section.)
NOTE:
To prevent the spread of weed seeds, clean the windrower before moving to a new location. Some laws required a certain cleaning procedure before the machine can be brought into the area. Check local government regulations regarding this matter.
