Starting the Engine

causym CAUTION: Avoid possible injury or death from machinery runaway.

Do not start engine by shorting across starter or starter solenoid terminals. Machine will start and move with hydrostatic drive control lever in forward or reverse drive position, or with the steering wheel not

centered, if normal starting circuitry is bypassed.

NEVER start engine, other than in the operator's seat, with the hydrostatic drive control lever in neutral position and platform drive switch disengaged.

Before starting engine, be sure area is well ventilated.

NOTE: The hydrostatic ground drive lever must be at rest to the left in the neutral position. This will trip the neutral switch (E), allowing the unit to start.

The steering is locked and the parking brake is applied while the neutral switch is engaged.

1. Move hydrostatic drive control lever (A) to neutral.

2. Move engine speed switch (B) to low speed.

3. Move field/road switch (C) to field position.

4. Disengage platform drive (D).

5. Make sure steering wheel is locked in center position.

IMPORTANT: Do not operate starter more than 30 seconds at a time. If engine does not start, wait at least two minutes before trying again.

If engine does not start in four attempts, refer to Troubleshooting section.

6. Turn ignition switch to the start position until engine starts. Release switch.
