Driving Windrower

causym CAUTION: Never operate machine in the road position in the field or without a platform.

Sound horn before starting and moving the windrower, alerting everyone near the machine.

IMPORTANT: Check local width laws before driving windrower on a public road.

Before starting engine be sure:

1. Seat is adjusted (A-D) and is in a comfortable position. (See PERSONAL-POSTURE AIR SUSPENSION SEAT in the Operator's Station section for adjusting seat.)

2. Steering column tilt (A) and height (B) are adjusted and in a comfortable position. (See Operator's Station section for adjusting steering column tilt and steering wheel height.)

NOTE: The hydrostatic ground drive lever must be at rest to the left in the neutral position. This will engage the neutral switch (B), allowing the unit to start.

3. Hydrostatic drive control (A) in neutral position.

NOTE: The steering, when returned to center, is locked and the parking brake is applied anytime the drive lever is at rest in the neutral position.

Moving the drive lever to the right, still in neutral position, will release the steering and brakes. Turning the steering wheel at this time will cause the windrower to pivot between the drive wheels. Moving the drive lever forward while turning, will increase the turning radius.

4. Start engine. (See STARTING THE ENGINE in the Operating the Engine section.)

5. Press the display select (F) and hold until indicator arrow is pointing to the upper display (D).

6. Press ground speed function (C) moving function display indicator (E) into upper left-hand corner. The windrower ground speed will be displayed in the upper display (D). (See OPERATING THE DUAL DIGITAL DISPLAY in Operator's Station section.)

IMPORTANT: When transporting the windrower, be sure the platform is completely raised to prevent the platform from bouncing.

7. Raise platform (A) to highest position.

8. Move FIELD/ROAD switch to ROAD position.

9. Move engine speed switch to full throttle.

NOTE: Steering is accomplished by turning the steering wheel right or left, except when backing.

Steering is reversed when backing machine. Place hand on bottom half of steering wheel and rotate in direction of desired turn.

10. Move hydrostatic drive control lever forward for forward travel and rearward for reverse.

causym CAUTION: When transporting on a road or highway, flashing warning lights and tail lights on each side of the rear of the windrower provide a warning to operators of vehicles approaching from the rear.

Flashing warning lights on each side of the platform provide a warning to operators of vehicles approaching from the front.

Lights must be turned on when driving the windrower on a public road.

NOTE: Road lights and hazard lights are automatically activated when transporting in road position.

11. Move light control to third position (D) when transporting at night or when transporting in field range. Hazard lights automatically operate when switch is in third (D) position.

NOTE: Turn signals are not self-cancelling.

12. When operating windrower on road or highway, use turn signals when turning windrower.

13. Travel at reasonable speed for road conditions.

causym CAUTION: Never dismount from windrower or leave the windrower parked without shutting off engine.

14. Before shutting off turbocharged engine, idle at least 1 to 3 minutes.
