Bleeding Fuel Filter
Air can enter the fuel system when changing the filter or running out of fuel. Air in the system could prevent engine from starting. If engine will not start in a couple of attempts, use the following procedure to bleed the fuel filter.
NOTE:
If the primer does not pump fuel and no resistance is felt at the upper end of the lever stroke, turn the engine slightly with the starter to change the fuel pump cam position.
1.
Open air bleed screw vent (A) two full turns.
2.
Pump the primer lever (B) until a noticeable amount of fuel and air comes out of vent opening. Continue pumping and close vent screw when fuel starts to flow.
3.
Pump the primer lever several times until resistance is felt. Continue pumping and open air vent bleed screw again.
4.
Close air bleed screw and pump primer lever several times until resistance is felt again.
