Changing Oil Filter

IMPORTANT: Change oil filter at recommended intervals. (See Lubrication and Maintenance section.)

Remove oil filter (A) and dispose of properly.

Clean the oil filter base (B) with a clean, lint-free rag.

IMPORTANT: Apply a thin film of clean engine oil to filter gasket and mating surface of oil filter base (B).

Do not overtighten oil filter. Tighten filter by hand approximately 1 turn after gasket contacts base.

Install filter onto oil filter base.

IMPORTANT: Do not overfill engine crankcase. Engine oil capacity is 12.3 L (13 U.S. qts)

Add oil to engine. (See CHECKING OIL LEVEL AND ADDING OIL in this section.)

After filling the engine with oil, operate the engine for a few minutes, allowing the oil filter to fill up, before checking the oil level.
