Adjusting Steering and Hydrostatic Linkage

The linkage controls the forward and reverse ground travel and the steering of the machine. The only adjustment to correct the creeping of the unit when hydrostatic control lever and steering is in neutral is the two links (A) and (B).

Right-Hand Linkage (A)

This link controls the front hydraulic pump which supplies the left-hand hydraulic motor (Left-Hand Wheel).

Left-Hand Linkage (B)

This link controls the rear hydraulic pump which supplies the right-hand hydraulic motor (Right-Hand Wheel)

When ground drive lever and steering wheel are in neutral position and the following happens:

  • IF both wheels creep forward, THEN shorten linkage (A) and (B)
  • IF both wheels creep rearward, THEN lengthen linkage (A) and (B)
  • IF right wheel creeps forward, THEN shorten linkage (B)
  • IF left wheel creeps forward, THEN shorten linkage (A)
  • IF right wheel creeps rearward, THEN lengthen linkage (B)
  • IF left wheel creeps rearward, THEN lengthen linkage (A)
To Adjust Linkage:

1. Lower platform and release float pressure.

causym CAUTION: Raise only one side of the machine at a time.

IMPORTANT: Use jack pad (H) provided and protect parking brake (I) and rotor from damage.

2. Raise both drive tires until tires clear the ground.

3. Start engine and set engine speed to slowest speed.

4. Observe wheel creeping and determine which link is to be adjusted and how it is to be adjusted.

5. Loosen jam nuts (C) at both ends of adjusting rod (D) or (E).

6. Turn adjusting rod until wheel stops creeping, note position of pump lever (F) or (G).

7. Continue turning adjusting rod until wheel starts to creep in opposite direction, note position of pump lever.

8. Adjust rod so that pump lever (F) or (G) is midway between the positions noted in Steps 6 and 7.

9. Shut off engine.

10. Preventing the adjusting rod from turning, tighten jam nuts (C) at both ends of adjusting rod.

11. Lower machine to ground and reset float pressure.
