Prestarting Checks

1. Check engine oil level. Remove dipstick (A), wipe clean and re-insert it fully. Remove and check oil level.

Safe operating range is between the two marks on dipstick. Do not operate engine when oil level is below lower mark on dipstick. In this case add specified oil (see Section 80 "Fuel, Lubricants, Hydraulic Oil and Coolant") through filler neck (B).

2. Check coolant level in expansion tank (A). If engine is cold and level is below "LOW" mark, add coolant to bring level to "LOW" mark.

NOTE: Coolant level with a cold engine should be at the "LOW" mark. With engine at operating temperature, coolant level should be at the "FULL" mark.

3. Lubricate the following items every 10 hours of operation when operating in extremely wet or muddy conditions:

  • Front axle pivot pin
  • Front axle king pins
  • Tie rod ends

Use specified multi-purpose grease (see in Section 80 "Fuel, Lubricants and Coolant").

For detail information refer to Section "Lubrication and Periodic Service".
