Operating Front Wheel Drive

Use front wheel drive as required for better traction.

causym CAUTION: Front wheel drive greatly increases traction. When this option is used, extra caution is needed on slopes. Compared to 2-wheel drive, a front wheel drive tractor maintains traction on steeper slopes, increasing the possibility of a tip over.

When driving on icy, wet or gravelled surfaces, reduce speed and make sure tractor is properly ballasted to avoid skidding and loss of steering control. For best control, engage front wheel drive (if equipped).

IMPORTANT: To extend tire life, engage front wheel drive only when needed. DO NOT engage front wheel drive when driving at high speed on public roads.

The front wheel drive can be engaged and disengaged in all gears (forward and reverse), on-the-go and under load without using the clutch. Anticipate the need for front wheel drive, make sure neither rear wheel is slipping then engage or disengage when minimum torque is being used and the tractor is moving slowly.

Press the front wheel drive switch (B) in position (C) to engage and in position (D) to disengage front wheel drive. An internal indicator light will glow when front wheel drive is engaged.

NOTE: When the brakes are applied, front wheel drive cuts in automatically regardless of the position selected at the front wheel drive switch. In this case the indicator light does not come on.
