Check Neutral Start System

Turning the main switch should crank the engine only if forward/neutral/reverse lever (T) is in neutral position and if PTO clutch lever (A) is not in engaged position.

causym CAUTION: If starting motor turns engine in one or both of the following steps, have the neutral start system repaired by your John Deere dealer.

1. Turn the main switch to start position with forward/neutral/reverse lever (T) in gear (not in neutral) position. Engine must NOT start.

2. Turn the main switch to start position with PTO clutch lever (A) in engaged position. Engine must NOT start.
