A - PTO Lever

T - Reverser Lever

When the key switch is turned, the engine should be cranked only if reverser lever (T) is in neutral position and PTO lever (A) is disengaged.

CAUTION: If starting motor cranks engine in one or both of the following steps, have the neutral start system repaired by your John Deere dealer.

  1. Move reverser lever (T) out of neutral and turn the key switch to start position. Starting motor must NOT crank engine.

  2. Engage PTO lever (A) and turn the key switch to start position. Starting motor must NOT crank engine.
