seat. To gain access remove nuts (A) and then remove cover (B).

Clean and Check Battery

Wipe battery with a damp cloth. Clean and tighten connections
if needed. It is not necessary to check fluid level (maintenance-free
battery).

Loosen the nut retaining negative (ground) battery cable
(B) and remove the cable connection. Then loosen the nut retaining
positive cable (A) and removethe cable connection.

CAUTION: Depending on the manufacturers, the arrangement of
battery connections may differ. To avoid sparks, connect
negative (ground) cable last and disconnect it first.
Pay close attention to the symbols marked on the battery.

Keep battery clean by wiping with a damp cloth. Keep connections
(A) and (B) clean and tight.

CAUTION: To avoid sparks, connect negative (ground) cable last
and disconnect it first. Pay close attention to the symbols
marked on the battery.
Keep battery fully charged, especially during cold weather.
If a battery charger is connected, connect the positive lead to the
positive battery terminal (A), then connect the negative charger lead
to the negative battery terminal (B).
Replacement

marked on the battery.
When replacing battery, use a John Deere battery or equivalent.

Under normal use, it is not necessary to add electrolyte to
maintenance-free batteries. Keep battery fully charged, especially
during cold weather.

CAUTION: Gas given off by battery is explosive. Keep sparks
and flames away from battery. Before connecting or disconnecting a
battery charger, turn charger off.
With charger off, connect positive battery charger lead to positive
battery terminal (A), then connect negative charger lead to negative
battery terminal (B).

Turn charger on and recharge the battery following battery manufacturer's
instructions for using charger.

To disconnect battery charger, turn charger off. Remove negative
charger lead first, followed by positive charger lead.
