CAUTION: Never open the fuel system when engine is hot. Handle fuel with care, it is highly flammable. Do not replace fuel filter while smoking or when near open flame or sparks.

Drain the fuel inside the filter by operating the water release tap (A). Collect the fuel in a container without impurities.

  1. Unscrew the cartridge (B).

  2. Collect the eventual fuel inside the filtering cartridge.

  3. Clean the gasket seat on the support and oil slightly the gasket on the new filtering cartridge.

  4. Screw the new fuel filter cartridge on it’s seat and hand-tighten it. Pay attention that gasket is seated correctly. The specified torque is 18 N˙m (13 lb-ft).

  5. Loosen the fuel outlet manifold, located on the upper part of the filter (C).

  6. Do not allow draining fuel to soil the drive belt or the environment.

NOTE: Place a small container under drain screw to catch draining fuel.

  7. Operate the pre-filter hand pump until the diesel coming out is free from any residual air. Alternatively operate the mechanical primary fuel pump (D).

  8. Lock the manifold loosened as above to the required torque.

  9. Start the engine and run it at minimum speed for a few minutes to eliminate any residual air. Check fuel system for leaks.

NOTE: Should it be necessary to accelerate the bleeding phase, the hand pump can be used during start-up.
