Checking Knives

Check knives before operating machine. Operator safety and mowing quality depend on careful inspection of knives.

Uneven ground and knives striking against obstacles may cause cracks and distortion of knives. Replace damaged knives immediately.

    Knives have two cutting edges. Be careful when working around the knives. Knives are sharp and can cause serious injury. Wear gloves when handling knives.

    Check knife cutting edges (A):

    • Reverse knife if only one edge (the forward cutting edge, relative to disk rotation) is worn to knife center (B).
    • Replace knife if both cutting edges are worn to center of knife.



  2. CAUTION: Replace cracked, broken, or distorted knives immediately. Failure to do so may lead to loss of knife and bolt, or cause damage to cutterbar during operation.

    Check knives for:

    • Cracks
    • Distortion
    • Excessive play at pivot bolt

    Replace knives immediately if any of these problems occur.
