1. Park mower-conditioner on level ground.

2. Raise mower-conditioner and engage cylinder locks.

3. Level platform side-to-side by using a jack under the low end. Give oil time to level.

4. Check oil level at sight glass (A).

   Cutterbar Sight Glass	Oil Level
   Oil shows half full in both sight glasses.	Correct
   Both sight glasses completely full of oil.	Too full
   No oil in either sight glass.	Too low
   One sight glass full and one low.	Level machine and recheck

5. NOTE: Approximate cutterbar oil capacity is:

   • 946 Mower-Conditioner - 9.5 L (10 U.S. qt)
   • 956 Mower-Conditioner - 10.4 L (11 U.S. qt)
   
   

   Add oil as necessary:

   1. Open door at left-hand side of machine to access fill hose.
   2. Remove cap (B) on top of fill hose.
   3. Add John Deere HY-GARD ®oil, or equivalent. (See CUTTERBAR OIL in this section.)
   4. Install filler cap and close door.
   
   

   If necessary to drain oil, see EVERY 200 HOURS in this section.
