A - Cylinder Lock (2 used)

CAUTION: To help prevent personal injury caused by unxpected movement, be sure to service machine on a level surface.

If machine is connected to tractor, engage tractor parking brake and/or place transmission in “Park”, shut off engine and remove key.

If machine is detached from tractor, block wheels to prevent movement.

CAUTION: Engage BOTH cylinder locks when working on machine. Failure to do so can result in personal injury or machine damage.

Before servicing or adjusting mower-conditioner:

  1. Disengage all power.
  2. Shut off tractor engine.
  3. Wait until all moving parts have stopped.

Before working under platform, engage both cylinder locks (A) tp prevent accidental lowering of machine.

Cutterbar Input Drive Gear Case (946)

A - Impeller Rotor Drive Sheave

B - Cutterbar Gear Case Drive Sheave

Conditioning intensity can be adjusted by changing the impeller rotor speed. Two rotor speeds are available, depending on position of drive sheaves (A) and (B). (Machine is delivered from the factory on high speed; Small sheave on impeller rotor and large sheave on cutterbar input drive gear case.)

NOTE: To change rotor speed, reverse sheaves (front-to-back).

  1. Remove impeller rotor sheave and conditioner drive belt. (See REPLACING CONDITIONER DRIVE BELT in Service section.)

  2. Remove cap screw, washer and sheave (B).

  3. Install sheave removed from impeller rotor, on cutterbar input drive gear case. Install washer and cap screw. Tighten cap screw to specifications.

  4. Rotor speed:

    • High speed (865 rpm)—Ideal for most crops
    • Low speed (625 rpm)—For tender crops or if leaf loss occurs on faster speed

  5. Install conditioner drive belt and impeller rotor sheave. (See REPLACING CONDITIONER DRIVE BELT in Service section.)
