Adjusting Main Drive Belt Tension


Initial Tension Adjustment

A - Door

  1. Open door (A).

    A - Nuts

    Adjust nuts (A) until spring dimension (inside of hook-to-inside of hook) is within specification.

    If adjustment nuts reach end of travel (no more threads on eye bolts), the fixed idler inside main drive belt compartment can be moved to increase tension on main drive belt.



  3. Close door.

B - Door

C - Flange-Head Bolts and Nuts (5 used)

D - Flange-Head Bolts and Nuts (8 used)

  1. Remove flange-head bolts and nuts (C) and (D).

  2. Open door (B).

  3. Remove rear cover (A).

    A - Fixed Idler

    B - Idler

    Loosen nuts to relieve spring tension on idler (B).



  5. Loosen nut on fixed idler (A) and slide idler up approximately 25.4 mm (1-in.). Tighten nut.

  6. Repeat initial adjustment procedure at idler (B) as described earlier.

    A - Clearance, 6—10 mm (1/4—3/8-in.)

    Adjust guide bolt clearance (A), back of belt to bolt.

  8. Install covers, flange-head bolts and nuts and close door.
