Attaching Mower-Conditioner Drawbar Hitch to Tractor

A - Distance

B - Adapter

  1. Adjust tractor drawbar and install hitch adapter. (See procedures in Preparing the Tractor section.)

  2. Measure approximate distance (A) from centerline of hitch point hole in adapter (B) to centerline of tractor PTO shaft. Record this measurement.

  3. Remove quick-lock pin and hitch pin from front of mower-conditioner hitch.

    Back up tractor to mower-conditioner. Align adapter on tractor drawbar (C) with front of mower-conditioner hitch (A).


  5. Engage tractor parking brake and/or place transmission in "Park".

  6. Shut off tractor engine and remove key.

  7. IMPORTANT: Driveline must be level when operating mower-conditioner. Attach mower-conditioner in correct position to prevent driveline damage.

    Turn handle on jackstand to align specific hole in mower-conditioner hitch with adapter on tractor, according to recorded measurement made in Step 2. (see chart)

    Bottom Hole

    225—277 mm (8 7/8—10 29/32 in.)

  8. Install hitch pin (B) and quick-lock pin.

  9. Route safety chain (D) through slot (E) in adapter and connect to tractor drawbar supporting structure, as shown. Do not fasten to drawbar. Remove excess slack.

  10. Attach PTO driveline. (See procedure in this section.)

  11. CAUTION: Do not attempt to lift tongue load from jackstand storage location (B). Machine may become unstable if lifted from this location.

    Turn handle (A) on jackstand to take load off of jackstand.

  12. Remove quick-lock pin, pin (C) and jackstand.

  13. Install jackstand in storage location (B) with handle facing toward tractor. Retain with pin and quick-lock pin.
