Main Drive Gear Cases—Check Oil Level (Iberica Gear Case)

IMPORTANT: Lower header and tilt head back to check oil level. This applies to gearboxes on header and tongue.

NOTE: Check that oil plug at bottom front main drive gear case is in same location shown for both two-point hitch and drawbar hitch. Two-point hitch shown.

Top Front (Tongue) Gear Case

A - Spacers

B - Plug

  1. If hitch and tongue gear case have spacers (A) installed, machine is equipped with a Comer gear case. (See Main Drive Gear Cases—Check Oil Level [Comer Gear Case] in this section.)

    If machine does not have spacers installed, proceed to Step 2.

  2. Remove plug (B) to check oil level. Oil must be level with bottom of port.

  3. Fill as necessary with GL-5 gear lubricant.

  4. Apply pipe sealant with TEFLON, or equivalent, on threads of plug. Install plug.

A - Cylinder Lock (2 used)

CAUTION: To help prevent personal injury caused by unexpected movement, be sure to service machine on a level surface.

If machine is connected to tractor, engage tractor parking brake or place transmission in “Park”, shut off engine and remove key.

If machine is detached from tractor, block wheels to prevent movement.

CAUTION: Engage BOTH cylinder locks when working on machine. Failure to do so can result in personal injury or machine damage.

Before servicing or adjusting mower-conditioner:

  1. Disengage all power.
  2. Shut off tractor engine.
  3. Wait until all moving parts have stopped.

Before working under platform, engage both cylinder locks (A) tp prevent accidental lowering of machine.

    Raise left-hand side front door to access gear case. (See RAISING AND LOWERING FRONT DOORS AND CURTAINS in Operating the Mower-Conditioner section.)



  2. Remove shield (A).

  3. Remove plug (B) to check oil level. Oil must be level with bottom of port. Fill as necessary, with specified oil. (See GEAR CASE OIL in this section.)

  4. Apply pipe sealant with TEFLON ® , or equivalent, on threads of plug. Install plug.

  5. IMPORTANT: When installing left-hand converging drum shield there must be 1—6 mm (0.04—0.24 in.) clearance between shield and converging drum.

    Install shield (A). Make sure clearance between shield and top of converging drum is according to specifications.

  6. Lower front door.


Roll Drive Gear Case—Changing Oil (Roll Conditioner)

  1. Run machine to warm oil.

  2. Lower machine onto wooden blocks.

  3. Open door at left-hand side of machine.

  4. Put a container under gear case drain plug (B).

  5. Remove fill plug (A).

  6. Remove drain plug to drain oil.

  7. Apply pipe sealant with TEFLON® , or equivalent, on threads of both plugs.

  8. Reinstall drain plug after oil has been drained.

  9. Fill gear case with specified oil. Oil must be level with bottom of fill or check plug port. (See GEAR CASE OIL in this section.)

  10. Install fill or check plug and close door.
