False slip indication

Slip alarm sounds without PTO or pickup clutch slipping

Check pickup sensor by viewing rpm on channel 205, (See Slip Clutch Alert Pickup RPM Sensor in Operating the Baler section)

Check PTO Speed on channel 204 is properly set, (See Slip Clutch Alert PTO Speed Sensor in Operating the Baler section)

Slip alert feature can be turned off (See Net Wrap, Slip Clutch Alert, and Variable Core Features, Turning On and Off in Service section)

Pickup rpm is higher than PTO sensor rpm

Reverse orange and brown terminals inside connector

One of the clutches slip but the slip alarm does not sound

Monitor not receiving PTO sensor input

Check PTO sensor by viewing rpm on channel 204 (See Slip Clutch Alert PTO Speed Sensor in Operating the Baler section)

Both sensors have not been activated

Check that both sensors are activated and PTO set at proper speed (See Slip Clutch Alert PTO Speed Sensor in Operating the Baler section)

Twine or net wrapping does not correct for slower speed

Improper sensor adjustment, faulty sensor, broken wires

Pickup sensor is damaged

Wheel on clutch contacts sensor

Remove starter roll end play by adding washers between sprocket and spring pin at left-hand starter roll shaft (See Adjust PTO and Pickup Slip Clutch Alert Sensors in Service section)

Remove pickup clutch end play by adding washers between clutch and outside spring pin. Adjust gap between sensor and tone wheel (See Slip Clutch Alert PTO Speed Sensor in Operating the Baler section)

PTO sensor is damaged

Main clutch fins contacts sensor

Tighten bolts attaching PTO driveline to gear case

Repair loose gear case shaft (See your John Deere dealer)

Erratic pickup speed variation

Sensor gap changes
