Use oil viscosity based on the expected air temperature range during the period between oil changes.

The following oils are preferred:

  • John Deere GL-5 GEAR LUBRICANT
  • John Deere EXTREME-GARD ™

Other oils can be used if they meet the API Service Classification GL-5.

Arctic oils (such as Military Specification MIL-L-10324A) can be used at temperatures below -30 °C (-22 °F).
