    A - Cap Screw

    B - Drive Chain

    C - Cap Screw (3 used)

    Loosen cap screw (A).

  2. Remove drive chain (B).

  3. Carefully remove cap screw (A) and washers outside sprocket or sheave taking note of quantity and position of washers.

  4. Remove sprocket and slip clutch or sheave.

  5. Remove remaining washers, hollow sleeve, and washers next to bearing again noting quantity and position of all the parts.

  6. Loosen and remove cap screws (C) from bearing and mounting flange. Note position and quantity of any shims between cast bearing flange and mounting flange.

  7. Remove old bearing.

  8. Install new bearing with cast bearing flange.

    A - Flanged Cap Screws (3 used)

    B - Flange Nut (3 used)

Install three flange mounting cap screws (A) and nuts (B). Only tighten cap screws enough to get a light contact between cast flange and mounting strap. Some rotation (a light tap) of the cast flange around the outer race can be required to align flange correctly at all three locations. Do not tighten cap screws at this time.

  11. Check to see if roll is centered in hole in sidesheet.

    A - Cap Screws

    B - Flange Nuts

    C - Shims

If necessary, loosen cap screws (A) and flange nuts (B) to insert shims (C) between bearing mounting flange and the cast bearing flange to center rolls in holes in sidesheet.

  13. Only retighten cap screws enough to get a light contact between cast flange and mounting strap. Some rotation (a light tap) of the cast flange around the outer race can be required to align flange correctly at all three locations. Do not tighten cap screws at this time.

  14. NOTE: Rolls must rotate freely. Check roll clearance through hole in sidesheet.

If roll is equipped with wiper pins, it is permissible to grind drive roll wiper pins to 3 mm (0.12 in.) minimum height.

Spin upper drive roll to verify clearance with sidesheet hole according to specifications. Add or remove shims (C) or move right-hand bearing plate, or grind drive roll wiper pins, if equipped.

    A - Spacer (MegaWide™ Plus Pickup)

    B - Cap Screw, M12 x 80 mm

    C - Washer, 13 x 57 x 6 mm

Install washers, hollow sleeve, washers, and slip clutch or sheave in same position and quantity removed. Then install washers or spacer (A) between clutch or sheave and washer (C) as specified here:

MegaWide™ Plus pickup: Install spacer (A) against face of clutch. Outside face of the spacer (A) must extend approximately 7 mm (0.28 in.) beyond end of hex shaft. If it does not extend far enough, add thin washers between spacer and clutch to obtain the required dimension.

  16. NOTE: Be sure there is no clearance between components.

Install cap screw (B) and washer (C) and tighten securely to clamp components on shaft.

  20. If dimension measured in Step 19 cannot be obtained within ± 1.5 mm (0.060 in.), add or remove washers inside slip clutch or sheave to obtain dimension.

  21. If washers are added or removed inside slip clutch or sheave, repeat Steps 15—18 to clamp components securely in place on the shaft.

  22. IMPORTANT: To prevent bearing failure, always tighten M12 cap screw (C) before tightening flange mounting M8 cap screws (A—B).

NOTE: Ensure that washers do not rotate by hand. Joint must be clamped to eliminate hex knock.
