Remove the oil drain plug (A) and drain the oil into a suitable
container.
IMPORTANT: Dispose of waste oil and filter in accordance with
all local and regional environmental regulations.
-
After oil has drained, clean and install drain plug.
-
Clean the area around the oil filter head (B) and then remove
the filter (C).
-
Apply a thin film of clean engine oil to the new filter gasket
and mating surface of the oil filter base.
-
Install new oil filter onto the base. Do not overtighten the
oil filter.
Tighten the oil filter by hand approximately 1 turn after gasket
contacts base.
-
Add new oil to engine. Oil capacity with filter is approximately
11.9 L (12.6 U.S. qt.)
Use the proper oil and viscosity based on the expected temperature
range the windrower will be operating in.
If you have any question about the fuel, coolant or lubricants
for the windrower contact your John Deere Dealer.
IMPORTANT: Do not overfill engine oil level.
NOTE: Follow normal starting procedures. Engine will not start
until the minimum cranking oil pressure is detected by the Engine
Control Module (ECM). It can take more cranking time to start the
engine after an oil change.
-
After filling engine with new oil, operate the engine for a
few minutes, allowing the oil filter to fill up.
-
Stop the engine, remove the key and allow oil to drain down
into the pan before checking.
-
After the oil has drained down into the pan check and top off
as necessary.
IMPORTANT: Check the engine oil every 10 hours of operation.
