CAUTION: Avoid possible death or serious injury from machinery runaway.

Do not start engine by shorting across starter or starter solenoid terminals. Machine will start and move with GSL control handle in forward or reverse drive position, or with the steering wheel not centered, if normal starting circuitry is bypassed.

Before starting engine, be sure area is well ventilated.

  1. NOTE: The GSL (A) must be at rest to the right in the neutral park position (N-Detent).

Sound the horn to alert anyone in the area of your intention.

  2. Turn the ignition switch to ON and monitor the engine pre-heat lamp. If lamp glows, wait until it goes out before turning the switch to start. If the lamp does not glow after the switch has been turned to ON, continue with the next step.

  3. Turn the ignition switch to the start position until the engine starts.

  4. IMPORTANT: Do not operate starter more than 30 seconds at a time. If engine does not start, wait at least two minutes before trying again.

If engine does not start in four attempts, refer to Troubleshooting section.

    Release the switch.

  5. Monitor the CDM (Console Display Monitor) and confirm that machine functions are normal.

NOTE: See detailed engine warnings and displays in the Display Screens / Programming section of this manual.
