Drain and Replace Final Drive Oil

Every 1000 hours of operation or each season drain and replace the final drive oil.

   Park the windrower on a flat level surface with the wheel being serviced positioned so the fill/drain plug (B) is at the 6:00 position. This will position the inspection plug (A) at the 9:00 position, as shown.

2. Lower platform. Turn off engine and remove key.

3. Remove plugs (A) and (B) and drain the oil. Inspect magnetic plugs for metallic particles.

   NOTE: Some particles are expected and should be considered normal.

4. IMPORTANT: Inspect plug o-rings and replace if damaged.

   Rotate the wheel to bring the fill/drain plug (A) to the 12:00 position.

5. Fill final drive with clean oil until oil level is at same level as bottom of inspection hole (A).

   John Deere SAE 75W-90 API-GL5 synthetic is required. If operating in extreme temperature or terrain, synthetic is recommended. See Final Drive Oil in Fuel, Coolant, and Lubricants section.

   NOTE: Final drive oil specification below is per side..

6. Clean and install plug (B) and (A). Tighten to specification.

7. Repeat Steps 1—7 on opposite final drive.
