Engine Air Filter Service

The W110 and W150 windrower engine air filter systems are monitored by air restriction indicators. These indicators alert the operator to service the air filters. Air restriction indicators are mounted on the top, left side of the engine air filter canister.

W110 Air Restriction Indicator

A - W110 Air Restriction Indicator

B - Air Restriction Scale

C - Air Restriction Indicator Window

On the W110 windrower service the air filters only if the indicator (A) shows 2.5 on the scale (B) or the view window (C) is red.

The air restriction indicator scale (B) displays the highest restriction that the air intake system has reached and will stay in the position even with the engine off. As the filters accumulate contamination the restriction increases. Once the scale reaches 2.5 the view window will turn red indicating the filters require service.

After the air filters have been serviced and the canister cleaned, push the reset button on the end of the air restriction indicator.

B - Yellow View Valve

C - Reset Button

On the W150 windrowers service the air filters only when the alarm sounds and CDM displays a warning message to service the filters.

After servicing the filters and cleaning the canister, push the reset button (C).

NOTE: The yellow view valve (B) inside the air restriction indicator may be monitored between service intervals. The valve will move from the position shown to the red area as the filter becomes contaminated. See the directions on the indicator.

D - Secondary Air Filter

E - Aspirator Duct Opening

Continue from the previous procedure and perform the following:

Remove secondary element (D) and discard.

Check aspirator duct opening (E) for obstructions.

Clean duct opening and inside of canister.

Replace secondary element (D) seal first and confirm that it is seated inside the canister.

Install new primary element (C) over secondary element and push into place. Again, confirm that the filter is seated into canister.

Position end cap onto filter housing with aspirator pointing downward.

Align arrow to unlock position on end cap and push end cap fully into housing.

Rotate end cap clockwise until catch engages housing.

After replacing the secondary filter and servicing the canister the re-set button (H) on the air restriction indicator (F) must be pushed.

The air restriction indicator is located above and to the left of the air canister.

Filter Element Cleaning

Air filter element cleaning is NOT recommended due to the possible degradation of the element material.

If cleaning is performed, there are several risks involved and the following procedures should be followed:

  1. Hold a bright light inside element and check carefully for holes. Discard any element which shows the slightest hole.

  2. Confirm that outer screen is not dented. Vibration would quickly wear a hole in the filter.

  3. Confirm that filter gasket is in good condition. If gasket is damaged or missing, replace element.

  4. If element displays oil or soot, replace element.

  5. If dirt or contamination is visible on the secondary element, replace both elements.

IMPORTANT: The air cleaner primary (outer) filter element should be replaced after three cleanings.

The secondary (inner) element should be replaced every third time the primary element is changed.

  6. Clean element with compressed air and a Dry Element Cleaner Gun. Air pressure must not exceed 400 kPa (60 psi). Do not direct air against the outside of element as dirt or contamination would be forced through to inside.
