Check Lower Knotter Gear Case Oil Level

Every 50 hours of operation, check the lower gear case oil level.

Remove plug (B). If oil comes out of the hole, level is OK.

Install plug. If no oil comes out, gear case needs filled.

Filling lower knotter gear case:

  1. Remove check level plug (B).

  2. Remove fill plug (A).

  3. Replenish oil using opening of fill plug (A), until a little oil comes out of plug (B) hole.

    Use oil specified in Lubricants and Capacities section.

  4. Place check level plug (B) back.

  5. Place the fill plug back (A).


Check Upper Knotter Gear Case Oil Level

Every 50 hours of operation, check the upper gear case oil level.

Remove check level plug (B). If oil comes out of hole, level is OK.

Install plug. If no oil comes out, gear case needs filled.

Filling upper knotter gear case:

  1. Remove plug (B).

  2. Remove the fill plug (A).

  3. Replenish oil using opening of fill plug (A), until a little oil comes out of plug (B) hole.

    Use oil specified in Lubricants and Capacities section.

  4. Place plug (B) back.

  5. Place the fill plug back (A).


Check Main Gear Case Oil Level

Every 50 hours of operation, check the main gear case oil level.

If oil is visible using window of plug (B), level is OK.

If no oil is visible, gear case needs filled.

Filling main gear case:

  1. Remove the fill plug (A).

  2. Replenish oil using opening of fill plug (A), until oil is visible using window of plug (B).

    Use oil specified in Lubricants and Capacities section.

  3. Install plug (A).

Check Packer Gear Case Oil Level

If oil is visible using window of plug (B), level is OK.

If no oil is visible, gear case needs filled.

Filling packer gear case:

  2. Replenish oil using opening of fill plug (A), until oil is visible using window of plug (B).

    Use oil specified in Lubricants and Capacities section.

  3. Place the fill plug (A) back.


Check Hydraulic Oil Level

A - Gauge-Glass

Every 50 hours of operation, check hydraulic oil level.

Check level of hydraulic oil using gauge-glass (A):

  • With 0 kPa (0 bar) (0 psi) pressure.
  • With bale chamber cylinders retracted.
  • After baler has run for 5 minutes (warm oil).

Hydraulic oil level is correct when top of oil is at top of gauge-glass (A).

Use recommended oil specified in Lubricants and Capacities section.


Check Plunger Needle Slots

Every 50 hours of operation, check the plunger needle slots.

Clear needle slots (A) of the crop buildup or debris.


Check Needle/Plunger Overlap Timing

Every 50 hours of operation, check the needle/plunger overlap timing.

Check needle/plunger overlap timing:

  • Trip the binding mechanism.
  • When turning the flywheel the needle marker can overshoot the slotted hole. If you overshoot the hole, finish the full cycle and start over again. DO NOT turn the flywheel to the left. Turning the flywheel to the left causes a miss alignment.

    Turn the flywheel to the right until the needle marker (A) is visible in the slotted hole at the retainer.
  • Check that the center (B) of the rear plunger roller is between the two markers (C and D) in the side plate. If the center (B) is not between the markers (see Adjust Needle/Plunger Timing in the Service section).

Check Knotters

Every 50 hours of operating, check the knotters.

Knotters (A) are lubricated automatically. Make sure that grease lines (B) are functioning properly.


Check Feeder Fork Timing

Every 50 hours of operating, check feeder fork timing. See Adjust Feeder Fork Timing in Service section.

Every 50 hours of operating, check feeder fork lock.

  • Place the AUTO/1:1 locking lever in the 1:1 position.
  • Turn flywheel clockwise until hook (A) is over pin (B).
  • Check that roller (C) turns freely.
  • If roller (C) does not turn freely, check for contamination and check the torque of bolts (D).
  • Check that roller (C) contacts hook (E) in contact area (F).
  • If roller (C) does not contact hook (E) in the correct area, adjust the position of assemblies (G) using bolts (H) in feeder fork arms (I).

Check Automatic Greasing System

Every 50 hours of operating, check automatic greasing system.

Fill greasing system using recommended grease and check for leaks.

System can be filled using a manual or pneumatic grease gun, high-flow filling press, or a quick fill kit. Use nipple (A) or plug (B) for filling the greasing system.

Make sure that the vent tube (C) is not plugged. Dispose of greasy rags according to local and national regulations.
