Check Knotter Trip Mechanism

Every 150 hours of operation, check the knotter trip mechanism.

Distance between the sector arm (A) and roller (B) must be between 3—5 mm (0.11—0.19 in) when the trip lever is being reset and drops. (See Adjust Sector Arm in Service section.)

Check Measure Plate Cable

Every 150 hours of operation, check both ends of the measure plate cable (A).

Check cable for wear, sticking, and seals out of place.

Check Needle Throw

To put needles (A) in the top position, proceed as follows:

• Switch on the knotting mechanism.
• In the rest position, crank (B) and rod (C) must be in line.
  Turn the flywheel by hand to the right until crank (B) is in the top position and in line with needle drive rod (C).
• Check distance (D) between the twine retainer disk and the center of the needle roller as shown.

  Disk to Roller	Distance	120—130 mm (4.72—5.12 in)

Check Knotter Shaft Brake

Every 150 hours of operation, check knotter shaft brake.

Check the spring tension regularly. Replace the brake linings as soon as they are worn. Never grease the brake rotor.

Adjust using cap screws (A) keeping springs (B) at equal lengths. (X) = 45 mm (1.75 in)

1. To adjust spring tension, loosen or tighten the nut (C).

2. To ensure that linings are parallel, use set bolts.

Check Twine Retainer Disk

Check retainer disk (A) for wear and timing.

Lubricate Knotter Driveshaft

Lubricate Shear Bolt Housing—If Equipped

Every 150 hours of operation, lubricate shear bolt housing.

L1533: The shear bolt clutch (A) protects main gear case. Shear bolt housing has one lubrication fitting (B).

Lubricate with recommended grease.

Lubricate Overload Clutch
