Precutter Difficulties

Never work on machine while it is running. Driveline can continue after disengaging PTO. Stay clear of machine until it has come to a complete stop. Shut engine off, remove key from ignition, set parking brake, and engage flywheel brake before repair or servicing.

Only restart machine once cause is identified and resolved. Working with an unsafe machine can result in serious injury or damage to equipment.

Rotor plugged at frontside.

Ground speed is too high.

Reduce ground speed.

PTO speed low.

Increase PTO speed. Always run baler at rated PTO speed.

Machine not hitched level.

Level machine. (See Telescoping Driveline in Prepare the Baler.)

Irregular crop flow.

Adjust roller baffle and/or compressor rack. (See Adjust Roller Baffle in Service section.)

Adjust windrower or rake.

Excessive crop loss.

Crop being cut too fine.

Reduce number of knives. (See Remove and Install Precutter Knives in Prepare the Baler section.)

Rotor plugged at backside.

Cutting length too short.

Reduce number of knives. (See Remove and Install Precutter Knives in Prepare the Baler section.)

Crop wrapping around rotor.

Rotor strippers or auger strippers have excessive clearance.

Adjust strippers to correct clearance.

Excessive power required to operate machine.

Dull knives.

Sharpen knives. (See Sharpen Knives in Service section.)

PTO speed low.

Increase PTO speed. Always run baler at rated PTO speed.

Excessive ground speed.

Reduce ground speed.

Rotor strippers or auger stripers clogged or dirty.

Reduce number of knives. (See Remove and Install Precutter Knives in Prepare the Baler section.)

Knives cannot be engaged.

Dirt between or around knife mechanism, blocking knife movement.

Clean knife slots, knife sides, and knife mechanism to remove blockage.

No oil or pressure in the density system.

Check oil level in reservoir.

Run machine at rated PTO speed.

Switch baler to pressure control mode on monitor and lower pressure set point.

Tension system does not reach preset pressure.

Run machine at rated PTO speed until tension system reaches preset pressure.

Switch baler to pressure control mode on monitor and lower pressure set point.

Knives cannot be disengaged.

Oil cannot flow back.

Check shutoff valves of hydraulic system.

Lower tension system pressure.

Bales not holding together.

Crop being cut too fine.

Reduce number of knives. (See Remove and Install Precutter Knives in Prepare the Baler section.)
