Practice Safe Service Procedures

Never lubricate, service, or adjust the baler while it is moving. Keep hands, feet, and clothing away from power-driven parts.

To help prevent personal injury caused by unexpected movement, be sure to service the machine on a level surface.

Engage the gate lock lever when working inside or around the baler with an open gate. Failure to do so can result in serious personal injury or death.

Disengage the PTO. Lower all equipment to the ground. Operate the hydraulic controls to relieve pressure.

Securely support any machine components that must be raised for service work.

If the baler is connected to a tractor, engage the tractor parking brake and place the transmission in Park. Shut off the engine and remove the ignition key. Allow the baler to cool before performing service.

If the baler is detached from the tractor, block the wheels to prevent movement.

Keep the service area clean and dry. Remove any buildup of grease, oil, or crop debris from the baler.

Before working inside or around the baler with an open gate, the gate lock lever (A) must be moved to locked position. Use this safety feature any time the gate is open. Close the gate anytime the baler must be left unattended.

If equipped with a bale push bar, lock out the push bar before raising the gate. (See Lock Out Bale Push Bar in Operating the Baler section.) If the push bar is not locked out and the gate is partially raised, the push bar remains in the home position held only by slight spring force. If the arms are pushed backwards, they move upward slowly under spring force. Be sure that bystanders are clear and there is sufficient clearance behind baler when opening gate for service.
