Check and Adjust Net Wrap V-Belt Idler Tension

  1. TS268
    TS268-UN-23AUG88

Prevent injury to others. Ensure that bystanders stand clear before operating the net wrap unit or baler.

Turn the tractor ignition key to the ON position. Do not start the tractor engine.

    A - V-Belt

    B - Idler Pulley

Select the EXTEND or the RETRACT softkey on the monitor. Cycle the actuator so that it moves approximately half way up or down to loosen the belt.

  3. To avoid personal injury from unexpected knife movement, disconnect the actuator wire connector or the baler ISOBUS power plug when performing adjustment or working in the area.

Temporally move the V-belt (A) from the top of the idler pulley (B) to the underside of the pulley.

  4. Reconnect the power source.

  5. Select the EXTEND softkey to extend the counterknife angle to the highest position.

  6. E51045
    E51045-UN-03JAN02

    A - Angle

    B - Tab

Check the angle (A) of the right-hand cut-off arm. The arm must contact the tab (B) firmly. If correct, proceed to the next step.

If position is not correct, adjust base end of the mounting bracket as follows to obtain firm contact:

    1. Turn the tractor ignition key to the OFF position.

    2. E49027
      E49027-UN-18OCT00

      A - Screws

      B - Carriage Bolt (2 used)

Loosen two screws (A) on top of the bracket, two carriage bolts (B), and nuts on the bottom end of the bracket.

    3. Select the RETRACT softkey and retract the counterknife angle to the shortest position. Tighten the bracket mounting bolts.

    4. Extend the actuator and recheck for a firm contact.

  7. Use the extend or retract softkey and return the actuator to approximately half way up or down.

  8. Disconnect the actuator from the power source.

  9. Move the V-belt to the top of the idler pulley.

  10. Reconnect to the power source.

  11. Engage brake before extending actuator.

    A - Clearance

    B - Tab

    C - Angle

Extend the actuator. Check that clearance (A) from angle (C) to tab (B) on the side sheet is within specifications.

    A - Idler Pulley

If clearance is not within specifications, adjust the idler pulley (A) in the idler arm slot until clearance is within the specified range.

  13. Retract the actuator and re-extend it to check for correct clearance. If clearance is still not correct, readjust idler (A) and recheck.

  14. Close the net wrap cover and shut the actuator door.

  15. After adjustment, turn the tractor ignition key to the ON position. To return the cut-off arm to the home position, select the WRAP softkey. Turn the ignition key off to cancel the STOP alarm. If this procedure is not followed, net feeds continuously during the next bale.

Turn the tractor ignition key to the ON position. Do not start the tractor engine.

  16. STOP alarm sounds while cycling the actuator.

Cycle the actuator several times using the WRAP softkey.

  17. Select the WRAP softkey and return the net knife to the home (downward) position. (See Check and Adjust Feed Roll Brake in this section.)

  18. Turn the tractor ignition key to OFF.
