Adjust Electric Twine Actuator

Twine arms can move unexpectedly. To avoid crushing, keep hands out of the twine arm path. Turn off power BEFORE servicing or adjusting twine arms or twine cutter mechanism.

Stay out of the path of twine arms at all times when power to twine arms is ON.

Twine knife has two sharp cutting edges. Be careful when working around the knife.

The 460R is illustrated for the following procedure. On the 560R, the actuator is installed on the right-hand side.

If the twine actuator has been removed or replaced, or the twine cutter tension adjustment cannot be made by moving washers on the cutter strap, perform the following adjustments.

   C - Twine Arm Stop

   Adjust cutter strap (A) by placing two washers in the front of the contact tab (B) and four washers behind the contact tab. Make sure that the twine arm stop (C) is in the down position.

   Turn the tractor ignition key to the ON position. Do not start the tractor engine.

   Select the twine Actuator Retract softkey (A) on the test output page. Move the twine arm (E) forward until it lightly contacts the tab (C) and strap (D).

7. Turn the tractor ignition key to the OFF position and remove key.

8. Loosen nut (B). Adjust the tab (C) to obtain distance (F) between the bottom edge of the tab and the bottom side of strap (D) according to specifications. Keep the tab vertical and tighten the nut.

   Bottom Edge of Tab to Bottom Side of Strap	Overlap	2—4 mm (3/32—5/32 in)

9. Turn the tractor ignition key to the ON position.

    Select the twine arm Actuator Retract softkey (A) and move the twine arms forward.

14. Turn the tractor ignition key to the OFF position and remove key.

15. Check the overlap distance (C). The front twine arm (D) must pass under tab (B). If necessary, adjust the tab. Light contact between the tab and the front twine arm is acceptable.

16. Turn the tractor ignition key to the ON position.

    Select the Actuator Extend softkey (A) and move the twine arms behind the twine cutter.

    Pull cutter strap (A) gently forward until knife (C) contacts the hex anvil. Remove slack, but do not deform the cutter strap.

23. Mark the cutter strap (A) at the side of support (B) as shown.

25. Loosen J-bolt nut (C).

26. Move cap screw (A) to end of the slot toward actuator.

27. Tighten cap screws (A and B) so that the actuator pivot can be moved by hand, but with some resistance.

28. Turn the tractor ignition key to the ON position.

35. Tighten cap screw (A) to specifications.

36. Tighten cap screw (B) to specifications.

    Cap Screw (B)	Torque	95 N·m (70 lb·ft)

    Recheck distance (D). If the distance is not within specifications, adjust as follows:

    1. Loosen cap screws (A and B).

    2. If distance (D) is less than specified, tighten J-bolt nut (C) until the correct distance is obtained.

    3. If dimension (D) is more than specified, loosen J-bolt nut (C) until the correct distance is obtained.

    4. Tighten cap screws (A and B). (See specifications in previous steps.)
