A - Cap Screw
B - Drive Chain
C - Cap Screw (3 used)
Loosen cap screw (A).
-
Remove drive chain (B).
-
Carefully remove cap screw (A) and washers outside sprocket
or sheave taking note of quantity and position of washers.
-
Remove sprocket and slip clutch or sheave.
-
Remove remaining washers, hollow sleeve, and washers next to
bearing again noting quantity and position of all the parts.
-
Loosen and remove cap screws (C) from bearing and mounting flange.
Note position and quantity of any shims between the cast bearing flange
and mounting flange.
-
Remove old bearing.
-
Install new bearing with the cast bearing flange.

B - Mounting Strap Edge
C - Dimension, 1.5—4.5 mm (0.059—0.177 in)
D - Washer (2 used, as required)
E - Washer (2 used) (each side of bearing)
If necessary, add or subtract washers (D) behind bearing
to locate cast step (A) correctly with mounting edge (B) in all three
locations. Set mounting edge to specification.

Dimension (C) | Distance | 1.5—4.5 mm (0.059—0.177 in) |
Be sure that there is one washer (E) on each side of bearing.

A - Flanged Cap Screw (3 used)
B - Flange Nut (3 used)
Install three flange mounting cap screws (A) and nuts (B).
Only tighten cap screws enough to get a light contact between the
cast flange and mounting strap. Some rotation (a light tap) of the
cast flange around the outer race can be required to align flange
correctly at all three locations. Do not tighten cap screws at this
time.
-
Check to see if roll is centered in the hole in the side sheet.
-

E67505-UN-23AUG12
A - Cap Screw (3 used)
B - Flange Nut (3 used)
C - Shim (as needed)
If necessary, loosen cap screws (A) and flange nuts (B) to
insert shims (C) between bearing mounting flange and the cast bearing
flange to center rolls in holes in the side sheet.
-
Only retighten cap screws enough to get a light contact between
the cast flange and mounting strap. Some rotation (a light tap) of
the cast flange around the outer race can be required to align flange
correctly at all three locations. Do not tighten cap screws at this
time.
-
Rolls must rotate freely. Check roll clearance through
the hole in the side sheet.
If the roll is equipped with
wiper pins, it is permissible to grind the drive roll wiper pins to
3 mm (0.12 in) minimum height.
To verify the clearance with the side sheet hole according to
specifications, spin the upper drive roll. Add or remove shims (C)
or move right-hand bearing plate, or grind drive roll wiper pins,
if equipped.

Rollers-to-Side Sheet | Clearance | 1 mm (0.04 in) |
-
To avoid center cap screw from loosening or hex knock,
keep washers or spacer (A) centered on shaft.

A - Spacer
B - Cap Screw, M12 x 80
C - Washer
Install washers, hollow sleeve, washers, and slip clutch
in same position and quantity removed. Then install the spacer (A)
between clutch and washer (C) as specified here:
Install spacer (A) against the face of clutch. Outside face
of the spacer (A) must extend approximately 7 mm (0.28 in) beyond
the end of the hex shaft. If it does not extend far enough, add thin
washers between the spacer and clutch to obtain the required dimension.
-
Be sure that there is no clearance between components.
Install cap screw (B) and washer (C) and tighten securely to
clamp components on shaft.

A - Dimension, 218 mm (8.58 in)
Check dimension (A) between face of the bearing plate and
inside of slip clutch sprocket.
| | |
|
Dimension (A) | Distance | 218 mm (8.58 in) |
-
If dimension measured in step 17 cannot be obtained within ±
1.5 mm (0.060 in), add or remove washers inside slip clutch or sheave
to obtain dimension.
-
If washers are added or removed inside slip clutch or sheave,
repeat steps 15 and 16 to clamp components securely in place on the
shaft.
-
To prevent bearing failure, always tighten M12 cap
screw (C) before tightening flange mounting M8 cap screws (A—B).
Ensure that washers do not rotate by hand. Joint must
be clamped to eliminate the hex knock.

M12 Cap Screw | Torque | 140 N·m (103 lb·ft) |
-
Tighten middle flange mounting cap screw (B) first. Tighten
flange mounting cap screws (A). Tighten all cap screws to specification.

To cast the step in three locations, check the position of the
mounting edge. If mounting edge does not align in the cast sets, repeat
steps 9—21.
-
Reinstall all chains or belts and adjust properly.
