Slip Clutch Alert

False slip indication

Slip alarm sounds without PTO or pickup clutch slipping

Check pickup sensor by viewing rpm on the control monitor.

Check PTO speed on the control monitor.

Slip alert feature can be turned off.

 

Pickup rpm is higher than PTO sensor rpm

Reverse orange and brown terminals inside connector.

One of the clutches slip but the slip alarm does not sound

Monitor not receiving PTO sensor input

Check PTO speed on the control monitor.

 

Both sensors have not been activated

Check that both sensors are activated and PTO set at proper speed (See Slip Clutch Alert PTO Speed Sensor in Operating the Baler section.)

Twine or net application does not correct for slower speed

Improper sensor adjustment, faulty sensor, broken wires

Check PTO sensor adjustment.

Check PTO speed on the control monitor.

Pickup speed sensor is damaged

Clutch sprocket contacts the sensor

Adjust the gap between the sensor and the sprocket.

PTO speed sensor is damaged

Main clutch contacts sensor

Tighten bolts attaching the PTO driveline to the gear case

Repair loose gear case shaft (See your John Deere dealer or qualified service provider.)

Adjust the gap between the PTO sensor and the clutch. (See Adjust PTO and Drive Roll Slip Clutch Alert Sensors in Service-Baler section.)
