Feed Difficulties with Roller Baffle

Crop pushing ahead of the roller

Not enough float.

Increase the float. (See Adjust Roller Baffle Float Tension in Service section.)

 

Tall stubble.

Raise the pickup.

 

Low drawbar.

Add a drawbar shield.

Adjust the roller baffle height.

Raise the pickup.

Crop wrapped on the roller

Ties missing. MegaWideMegaWide is a trademark of Deere & Company has plastic ties. (HC2 has metal ties.)

Replace missing ties on the roller.

Tighten loose ties on the roller.

Roller not balanced

Crop is not feeding under the roller.

Balance roller (See Balance Roller Baffle in Service section.)

Roller bouncing

Float is too light.

Reduce the roller float spring pressure. (See Adjust Roller Baffle Float Tension in Service section.)

Pickup plugging

Crop pushing through the compressor rack.

Add compressor rods to each hole, except the outside hole on each end.

 

Pickup stalls.

MegaWide™ Plus pickup: Disengage the torsion spring for the roller baffle.

For 5’ MegaWide™ Plus pickup only: Order Cornstalk Feeding Enhancement kit. (See your John Deere dealer or qualified service provider.)

Pickup plugs in the cornstalks

Pickup stalls. Float on the roller baffle is too light.

For MegaWide™ Plus pickup, disengage the spring for the roller baffle.

For 5’ MegaWide™ Plus balers only, order Cornstalk Feeding Enhancement kit. (See your John Deere dealer or qualified service provider.)

For the HC2 feed system, add a chain link in-line with the roller baffle float spring to make the roller baffle heavier.
