Check and Adjust Net Wrap V-Belt Idler Tension

  1. TS268
    TS268-UN-23AUG88

Protect bystander. To prevent injury, be sure that bystanders stand clear before operating the net wrap unit or baler.

Connect the monitor-controller power plug to the power source.

  2. Turn tractor key to ON position. Do not start tractor engine.

    A - V-Belt

    B - Idler Pulley

With channel 018 on the monitor, cycle actuator using extend or retract key, so actuator moves approximately half way up or down, to loosen belt.

  4. To avoid personal injury from unexpected knife movement, disconnect the actuator wire connector or power plug when performing adjustment or working in area.

Temporarily move the V-belt (A) from the top of the idler pulley (B) to the underside of the idler pulley (B).

  5. Reconnect the power source.

  6. With the monitor-controller in the NET mode, press and hold the COUNTER key while turning the monitor-controller ON.

  7. Continue to hold the COUNTER key and press PLUS key until CH 018 appears in the digital display.

  8. To extend the actuator fully (angle to highest position), press the EXTEND key.

    A - Angle

    B - Tab

Check the angle (A) of the right-hand n cut-off arm. The arm must contact the tab (B) firmly. If correct, proceed to Step 10.

If position is not correct, adjust base end of mounting bracket as follows to obtain firm contact:

    1. Disconnect monitor-controller power plug from the power source.

    2. E49027
      E49027-UN-18OCT00

      A - Screws

      B - Carriage Bolt (2 used)

Loosen two screws (A) on top of the bracket, two carriage bolts (B), and nuts on the bottom end of the bracket.

    3. Connect the monitor-controller power plug to the power source. Repeat steps 5—7.

    4. Retract the actuator fully (to shortest position), and tighten the bracket mounting bolts.

    5. Extend the actuator and recheck for a firm contact.

  10. Ensure that the monitor is on channel 018. Use the extend or retract key and return the actuator to approximately half way up or down.

  11. Disconnect the actuator from the power source.

  12. Move the V-belt to the top of the idler pulley.

  13. Reconnect to the power source.

  14. Engage brake before extending actuator.

    A - Idler Pulley

If clearance is not within specifications, adjust the idler pulley (A) in the idler arm slot until clearance is within specified range.

  16. Retract actuator and re-extend to check for correct clearance. If clearance is still not correct, readjust idler (A) and recheck.

  17. Close the net cover and shut the actuator door.

  18. After adjustment, turn the monitor-controller ON. To return cut-off arm to the home position, press the WRAP key. Turn the monitor-controller off to cancel the STOP alarm. If this procedure is not followed, net will be fed continuously during the next bale.

Connect the monitor-controller power plug to the power source. Turn the tractor key to the ON position. Do not start the tractor engine. Turn the monitor-controller ON.

  19. STOP alarm sounds while cycling the actuator.

Cycle actuator several times using the WRAP key.

  20. Press the WRAP key and return the net knife to the home (downward) position. (See Check and Adjust Feed Roll Brake in this section.)

  21. Turn the monitor-controller to OFF.
