The best bales are formed at maximum density with dry hay. Check
and adjust the bale density to the highest pressure that is ever used.
It is suggested to set the baler at the maximum density. (See Adjust
Bale Density in Operating the Baler section.)
-
Calibration must be done with the variable core off
(if equipped).
When in the calibration mode, the automatic
wrap cycle and oversize bale warning do not function. There is a risk
of making an oversize bale without knowing. Damage to the baler can
occur. Observe the mechanical size indicator on the front of the baler
and avoid baling near the red zone. It can be necessary to make two
bales to adjust both sensors.
Proper windrow formation is important for this adjustment.
Windrow width MUST be half or less than half of the bale chamber width
OR full width. If it is full width, it must be uniform density.
Begin baling and make a 1.27—1.40 m (50—55 in) bale in the chamber.
-
Stop tractor leaving engine running.
-
Power OFF the monitor-controller.
-
Press and hold the COUNTER key. To put the monitor-controller
in the calibration mode, press the ON or OFF key.
-
Continue to hold the COUNTER key and press PLUS key until CH007 appears in the digital display.
-
Release COUNTER key and begin driving down the windrow to feed
crop into the extreme right side of baler. To fill the right-hand
end of the bale, be sure to crowd the end of the pickup. To ensure
the maximum end density, allow some hay to be missed off the end of
the pickup, if necessary.
-
Drive until calibration numbers on digital display stop changing.
Stop and disengage PTO. The belt on the right-hand side is now at
its tightest.
-
To calibrate the bale shape sensor, press the plus and minus
keys simultaneously.
-
Shut off tractor engine.
-
Press and hold COUNTER key while turning on monitor-controller.
-
Continue to hold COUNTER key and press PLUS key until CH007 appears in digital display.
-
To save the calibration, simultaneously press the PLUS and MINUS
keys.
-
It can be necessary to return monitor-controller to normal
operating mode to finish the bale in the baler to avoid creating an
oversize bale.
Repeat procedure for the left-hand side except use CH009.
-
Turn monitor-controller off to exit calibration mode, then back
on, for normal operation.
