Test Gate Closed and Oversize Bale Switches—Monitor-Controller Assisted Test (Channels 013 and 014)

  1. The microswitch position and operation can be checked by using the monitor-controller diagnostic channels.

    Start tractor engine.

    A - COUNTER Key

    B - PLUS Key

    Press and hold COUNTER key (A) while turning monitor-controller ON.



  3. Continue to hold COUNTER key and press PLUS key (B) until digital display shows desired channel.

  4. Release key and view reading (gate closed).

  5. Tension arm must be fully raised for oversize bale switch to be closed.

    Open gate and view reading or listen for tone.

  6. If readings are not as shown, adjust switch position and test again. (See Adjust Gate Closed Switch and Adjust Oversize Bale Switch in this section.)

    Channel 013 is also used to verify the B-Wrap sensor. If metal is waved in front of the sensor then the Channel 013 reading goes to 00.

  7. If switch adjustment does not produce normal readings:

    1. Turn monitor-controller OFF. Turn tractor key to OFF position. Remove key.

    2. Check for correct wire connections. (See Wire Harness Diagram—Baler in this section.)

    3. Check wire harness for cuts and breaks.

    4. Check harness connectors for damaged (pushed back) terminals.

    5. Replace switch if necessary. (See your John Deere dealer or qualified service provider.)
