Test Gate Closed and Oversize Bale Switches—Monitor-Controller Assisted Test (Channels 013 and 014)

  1. Microswitch position and operation can be checked by using the monitor-controller diagnostic channels.

    Start tractor engine.

    A - COUNTER Key

    B - PLUS Key

    Press and hold the COUNTER key (A) while turning the monitor-controller ON.



  3. Continue to hold the COUNTER key and press the PLUS key (B) until the digital display shows the desired channel.

  4. Release the key and view the reading (gate closed).

  5. Tension arm must be fully raised for the oversize bale switch to be closed.

    Open the gate and view the reading or listen for the tone.

  6. If readings are not as shown, adjust the switch position and test again. (See Adjust Gate Close Switch and Adjusting Oversize Bale Switch in this section.)

  7. If the switch adjustment does not produce normal readings:

    1. Turn the monitor-controller OFF. Turn the tractor key to the OFF position. Remove the key.

    2. Check for correct wire connections. (See Wire Harness Diagram—Baler in this section.)

    3. Check the wire harness for cuts and breaks.

    4. Check harness connectors for damaged (pushed back) terminals.

    5. Replace the switch if necessary. (See a John Deere dealer or qualified service provider.)
