Recommended Baling Guidelines
For consistent density and properly shaped bales the following
conditions must be set:
-
Proper driving technique.
Baling windrow one-half width or less than bale chamber:
-
Start feeding windrow in the center of baler.
-
Move quickly to one side for several yards feeding the baler,
as close as possible to the sidesheet, without leaving hay in the
field.
-
Weaving back and forth across the windrow should be done
quickly in a crisp zigzag fashion to balance crop intake side-to-side.
Weaving too often or too slowly puts too much crop in the center of
the bale and should be avoided.
Move quickly to the other side for several yards feeding the
baler, as close as possible to the sidesheet, without leaving hay
in the field.
-
Move quickly back to the other side feeding the baler, as close
as possible to the sidesheet.
-
Move quickly to the other side and continue feeding this side.
-
Repeat steps 4 and 5 as necessary.
As bale diameter increases, indicators are less sensitive to
raise and fall as hay is fed into the baler. Do
not weave from one side unless indicator reaches the top of the operating
zone or the other indicator drops to the bottom of the operating zone. If the indicator does not reach the top of the operating zone on
each side before weaving, that side of the bale is not tight.
After the NEAR FULL indicator alarm sounds, try to keep the
indicators at the top of the operating zone.
