Removing Mower Deck

1. Park machine safely. (See Parking Safely in SAFETY section.)

2. Put attachment lift lever in lowest position.

3. Remove right and left deck shields. (See Removing and Installing Machine Shields in the SERVICE MOWER section.)

4. Remove engine sheave shields.

   Insert a 3/8 in. (10 mm) head tool into the square hole (A) in the right idler bracket. Remove tension from the drive belt (B) and remove the belt from the engine sheave.

6. For 42 in. (107 cm) mower deck, repeat previous step to remove left side drive belt (C) from engine sheave.

7. Raise deck level two positions with attachment lift lever and put wood blocks under each side (D) of mower deck.

8. Put attachment lift lever in lowest position, bringing mower deck down onto blocks.

   Remove spring locking pin and washer (E) and front draft rod (F) from mower deck bracket (G).

10. CAUTION: Mower lift arms can pinch fingers. Lift arms are spring loaded and can snap back when deck is removed.

    Lock lift lever before pulling pin to remove mower deck.

    Remove spring locking pins and washers (H) and disconnect rear draft arm (I) and adjustable lift links (J) on each side of deck.

11. Remove wood blocks from both sides of deck.

12. Depress top chute on mower deck fully and slide deck out from under the machine.

13. Before operating the machine without the mower deck:

    • Install the engine sheave and deck shields on the machine.
    • Remove front draft rod from machine and attach it to the mower deck for storage.
