Installing Mower Deck

1. Park machine safely. (See Parking Safely in SAFETY section.)

2. Put attachment lift lever in the highest lift position.

   Depress top chute (A) on deck and slide deck under machine until centered.

4. Roll deck to the rear and engage the bottom deck chute (B) with the lower section (C) of the rear chute cap.

5. Align the lower edges (D) of the top deck chute with the side notches (E), if equipped, in the rear discharge chute cap, and roll the deck to the rear until the top and bottom deck chutes are fully inserted into the rear chute cap.

6. NOTE: The top chute on the deck must be installed inside the large primary discharge chute (F) on the tractor.

   Slide deck rearwards 1 - 3 in. (25-75 mm) to insert the deck discharge chutes into the tractor discharge chute. Make sure that the top chute (A) on the deck rests on top of the notches (E) in the rear discharge chute cap.

7. Put wood blocks under each side of mower deck.

8. Put attachment lift lever in lowest position.

   Fasten rear draft arm (G) and adjustable lift link (H) on each side of deck with washers and spring locking pins (I).

10. IMPORTANT: To prevent clutch damage, make sure front draft rod is installed correctly. Secure rod with washer and spring locking pin on the left side of mower deck bracket.

    Install front draft rod (J) into mower deck bracket (K) and secure with washer and spring locking pin (L) on the right of bracket as shown.

11. Remove wood blocks from both sides of mower deck.

12. CAUTION: Component is spring-assisted and under tension. Injury can occur if spring-assisted component is released suddenly.

    36 in. (92 cm) Mower Deck

    For 36 in. (92 cm) deck, insert a 3/8 in. drive head tool into the square hole (M) in the right idler bracket. Rotate the idler bracket counterclockwise and install the drive belt (N) on the lower engine sheave. Release tool to tension belt.

    42 in. (107 cm) Mower Deck

    For 42 in. (107 cm) deck, insert a 3/8 in. drive head tool into the square hole (O) in the right idler bracket. Rotate the idler bracket counterclockwise and install the drive belt (P) (right side only for 107 cm deck) on the upper engine sheave. Release tool to tension belt.

14. For 42 in. (107 cm) deck, insert a 3/8 in. drive head tool into the square hole (Q) in the left idler bracket. Rotate the idler bracket counterclockwise and install the left drive belt (R) on the upper engine sheave. Release tool to tension bracket.

15. Install engine sheave shields. (See Removing and Installing Machine Shields in the SERVICE MOWER section.)

16. Level mower deck.

17. Put attachment lift lever in lowest position.

18. Install right and left deck shields.
