Changing Chopper Drive Speeds

causym CAUTION: Shut off engine, set park brake and remove key.

Release chopper drive belt tension.

Remove quick-lock pin (A) and pull arm (B) away and up to release belt tension. Replace quick-lock pin to hold arm in the loose belt position.

Install belt on inside sheave grooves at (A), (B) and (C) for (Low Speed) 1600 rpm for:

  • Corn
  • Grain with dry straw
  • Grain with a narrow straw spread
  • Smaller platforms

NOTE: Less power will be consumed and blade life will be increased with the chopper on low speed.

Install belt on outside sheave grooves at (A), (B) and (C) for (High Speed) 2500 rpm for:

  • Grain with tough or green straw
  • Grain with a wide straw spread
  • Larger platforms

Open door (D) and cover (E) to access belt.

Remove quick-lock pin and pull arm down to put tension on belt. Secure arm with quick lock pin. Check belt idler tension spring to the gauge. The washer on the rear of the spring should be even with the gauge. Adjust as required.
